and Jackson was founded in the 1940's and was originally involved
in threshing contracting using steam traction engines. The sales and
repair side of the business soon evolved with the three Ramsay brothers
mainly Neil, Billy and Robin becoming partners with their mother Isabella
Jackson and step father James Jackson.
The contracting side of the business continued on until the 1970's when
the last combine harvester was sold off to allow more time to be spent
on the growing machinery supply and repair business. The firm is presently
run by Billy and Neil Ramsay who are the sons of the original partners.
At present 12 people are employed at the new purpose built premises
at knowehead works, Mauchline.
Three different brands of tractor are offered for sale, namely Deutz-Fahr,
Lamborghini and Zetor.
The other main franchises include Merlo Telescopic Handlers, Honda ATV’s,
Krone, Pottinger and McHale Grassland Machinery, NC Trailers and Slurry
Equipment and KRM Spreaders.
